Acetyltributyl citrate is an organic compound with the chemical formula C20H34O8. It is a colorless and odorless oily liquid that is soluble in most organic solvents and insoluble in water. It can be used as a plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride, cellulose resin, and synthetic rubber.
Colorless and odorless oily liquid, boiling point 343 ºC (0.101MPa), flash point (open cup) 204 ºC, freezing point -80 ºC, evaporation rate 0.000009g/cm2 · h (105 ºC), hydrolysis rate 0.1% (100 ºC, 6 hours), soluble in most organic solvents, insoluble in water. It is compatible with PVC, polystyrene, vinyl chloride vinyl acetate copolymer, nitrocellulose, acetocellulose, Polyvinyl butyral and other resins. It is partially compatible with Cellulose acetate and cellulose acetate butyrate. This product has similar cold and light resistance to tributyl citrate, but better water resistance. Non toxic, LD50=4000mg/kg.
