Polyetheramine (PEA) is a type of polymer with a polyether structure as the main chain and an amine group as the terminal active functional group. The chemical formula is C3n+3H6n+10OnN2. Amino-terminated polyether has the following structure: x, y = 0-n. Polyetheramine is obtained by ammoniating polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol or ethylene glycol/propylene glycol copolymer under high temperature and high pressure. By choosing different polyoxyalkylene structures, a series of properties such as reactivity, toughness, viscosity and hydrophilicity of the polyetheramine can be adjusted, and the amine group provides the possibility for the polyetheramine to react with a variety of compounds. Its special molecular structure endows polyetheramine with excellent comprehensive performance. Commercialized polyetheramine includes a series of products with monofunctional, bifunctional, trifunctional and molecular weight ranging from 230 to 5000. It has been widely used in many fields such as polyurea spraying, large-scale composite material production, epoxy resin curing agent and automobile gasoline detergent.
English name: amino-terminated polyoxypropylene; Polypropylene glycol bis(2-aminopropyl ether); polyetheramine; Polyetheramines; 2-(aminooxy)propan-1-amine
CAS: 9046-10-0, 39423-51-3
Molecular formula: C3n+3H6n+10OnN2
Molecular weight: common products have a molecular weight of 230 to 5000
Soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, glycol ethers, ketones, aliphatic hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons. D-230 is soluble in water, D-400 is partially soluble in water, and D-2000 is insoluble in water.
The exothermic temperature of the end-group polyether cured epoxy resin is reduced, and the product is colorless and transparent, high gloss, toughness, and heat shock resistance. Amino-terminated polyether has high boiling point, low vapor pressure, low toxicity, and is potentially irritating to the skin.
LD50: 1660mg/kg (D-230), 500 (D-400), 450 (D-2000), 230 (T-403).
Used as a toughening curing agent for epoxy resin adhesives. It can be used alone or mixed with ordinary polyetheramines. The reference dosage is 30-60 parts, and the curing conditions are 80ºC/2h+125ºC/3h.
Of course, it can be cured at room temperature, but the bonding strength is not high. Only D-400 and D-2000 are mixed at 50:25. After curing at room temperature/7d, the peel strength is as high as 28.4kN/m and the shear strength is 11.2mPa.
In addition, E-51: D-230=100:30 or E-51: D-400=100:64, with 4 parts of methanol as an accelerator, the epoxy resin can be cured well at room temperature. Amino-terminated polyether has low activity and longer construction time. Adding a small amount of accelerator nonylphenol (10-20 parts per 100 parts of epoxy resin) can significantly accelerate the curing reaction speed and improve moisture resistance.
Amino-terminated polyether has low viscosity, colorlessness, good compatibility with epoxy resin, long pot life and high bonding strength. Excessive use of amino-terminated polyether will reduce the bonding strength of epoxy adhesives. It can also be used as an active chain extender for polyester. Also used as curing agent for polyurethane and polyurea.
