Aluminum sulfate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Al2 (SO4) 3, a molecular weight of 342.15, and a white flake like appearance.
In the paper industry, it can be used as the precipitator of rosin size, wax lotion and other sizing materials, as the flocculant in water treatment, as the retention agent of foam fire extinguishers, as the raw material for manufacturing alum and aluminum white, as well as the raw material for petroleum decolorization, deodorant and medicine, and also can be used to manufacture artificial gemstones and high-grade ammonium alum.
1. Used as a paper sizing agent in the papermaking industry to enhance the water resistance and impermeability of paper;
2. Dissolved in water, it can cause small particles and natural colloidal particles in the water to aggregate into large flocs, which can be removed from the water. Therefore, it is used as a coagulant for water supply and wastewater;
3. Used as a turbid water purifier, as well as a precipitant, fixative, filler, etc. Used as an antiperspirant cosmetic ingredient (astringent) in cosmetics;
4. In the fire protection industry, foam extinguishing agent is composed of baking soda and foaming agent;
5. Analytical reagents, mordants, tanning agents, oil decolorizers, wood preservatives;
6. Stabilizers for albumin pasteurization (including liquid or frozen whole eggs, egg whites or yolks);
7. Can be used as raw materials for manufacturing artificial gemstones, high-grade ammonium alum, and other aluminum salts;
8. In the fuel industry, it is used as a precipitant in the production of chrome yellow and lake dyes, while also serving as a fixative and filler.
9. Used as an effective crosslinking agent for animal glue and can increase the viscosity of animal glue. It is also used as a curing agent for urea formaldehyde adhesives, with a fast curing speed in a 20% aqueous solution.
